A Small (and big) Update
Hello readers, it’s been a while, huh? Truth be told, I’ve been quite busy with college, my own fighting game project, and a certain game jam… Anyways, point is, I plan to pick up soon with some more in the “What is…” series. I’m considering either Capcom vs Square or Chaos Code as my next topic, so if one sounds more interesting to you, let me know! Anyways, on to the more important updates, at least in my opinion.
First off, my game! I’ve been learning a lot about IKEMEN and while nothing is polished yet, our team is well on its way to delivering a playable demo of Robo-Metal by this summer! This has been a long time coming, and while it won’t be super polished or anything, it should offer a glimpse of what our plans are, and hopefully get some eyes and interest on the game. The current plan for the demo is to have only one character (sad I know, but animation is a big bottleneck…), all of our UI and universal mechanics, and some music. Stages are TBD, we need to find a 3D modeler willing to help us put together our stage visions, so stay tuned on that. In addition, we will likely release the songs in the demo on the music producer’s YouTube channel at some point in the next few months, so keep an eye on the MarsBars channel for that (hopefully).
Second, I’m somehow qualified to be a judge on Andrea’s Fighting Game Jam. I am being a bit facetious about my qualifications, but I am honored to be a judge on something as exciting as this. I have already seen some amazing work coming out of the devs working in the jam, and (as of writing this) we’re only a few days in! If you’ve always wanted to make a fighting game but the programming or animation or music or whatever seemed too intimidating, this is a great chance to hop into developing! Linked on the Game Jam page is the FGC Dev server, and plenty of people are building teams for the jam, so if you wanna be part of something, I would say just go for it. If you’re still hesitant, I recommend still joining the server and just watching the dev work, as it can be inspiring and very informative. Happy jamming!
That’s all I have for now, stay tuned for the future. I want to keep things going on here pretty regularly, but currently I have a lot on my plate. Regardless, my passion for this hasn’t waned at all, so expect stuff here soon! If there’s something you want to see me cover specifically, just let me know and I can look into it. Until next time.
