Niche Anime Fighter News Batch
Daemon Bride PC Port released
For those that love their weird esoteric anime fighters, EXAMU's 2011 DaemonBride: ADDITIONAL GAIN got a PC port right in time for the new year. The port was made by one former EXAMU dev, Kizawaya, who also has his own personal project, Shadow Prisoner. Both games are worth checking out, and Daemon Bride comes with features like rollback netcode and a fairly robust training mode, a first for this entry in the series. Kizawaya has stated he will continue to work on bug fixes and improvements to the game, as well as rumors of a color editor, so if you're concerned about the game, keep an eye out for future updates!
Hellversus gets its first public beta
Hellversus, the fanmade Helltaker fighting game, released its first public beta version on Christmas. It has been available to Patreon subscribers for a while, but for the first time ever, it is now free to play for everyone. As of the current beta there are still a lot of things to fix and improve, and only two characters available. However, Kyo-hei, the creator of Hellversus, has shown off concepts and described the playstyles of future additions to the cast, so go check it out if you're interested!
Angels of Battle gets an update
BV Taisei's 2D Fighter Maker creation, Angels of Battle, recently got a 1.7 update. According to them, this is a smaller update before the planned 2.0 update in the future. This update includes a new boss fight, new teaser endings, and of course, bug fixes and balance changes. The game is an anime fighter with some very pretty animations, and is one of the more impressive games made within 2D Fighter Maker. If you are an anime fighter fan and haven't checked it out yet, give it a look.
CAPCOM VS SQUARE: Parallel Destinies releases its first demo
If you have been keeping an eye out for unique IKEMEN games, this probably crossed your path once or twice. CAPCOM VS SQUARE: Parallel Destinies is built from the ground up as a sort of what-if love letter to 90s fighting game crossovers. We recently got our first demo of the game, and with 6 characters available to try it's a fairly robust demo. Definitely worth checking out if it sounds interesting.
SEGA vs. Capcom: The Next Level releases a teaser trailer for 2026
From one IKEMEN game to another, SEGA vs. Capcom: The Next Level is another what-if crossover fighter, and as they just announced, it is getting a huge overhaul in 2026, in addition to a couple new characters. They have a demo out currently which I recommend trying if you're interested, but the new update looks to overhaul the graphics and smooth some of the other rough edges. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
Here comes a new challenger: Limbo Breakers!
Finally, I wanted to briefly touch on Limbo Breakers, the passion project being created by Vaguecoder. The concept is to be a sort of cross between Blazblue and Bloody Roar, and having received some early builds from the dev, I am very hopeful for the future of this game. If that concept sounds interesting to you, I recommend checking Vaguecoder out!
That's all this time, I'll try to keep this updated when new info comes out about interesting niche fighters, so for now, stay tuned! In the future, news will probably come in individual posts instead of big ones like this for the most part, but hey, I had to get caught up.
